Golf – The Ryder Cup / Volvo Masters

The Ryder Cup, the most important sporting event in the world’s golfing calendar is held every two years and brings together the best golfers from Europe and USA. In 1997 it was held at the famous Valderrama golf course in Estepona.

The Volvo Masters – The PGA European Tour showcase event - sees the top golfers fighting it out for the number one spot on the Volvo Order of Merit.

These events, together with the general quality of facilities and services offered by the numerous golf courses located on the Costa del Sol have helped seal the coasts reputation as the “Costa del Golf”.

Tennis

Campo de Tenis Lew Hoad - originally a converted Andalusian cortijo (country house) - built in the late 60’s by the tennis legend Lew Hoad. The club boasts eight top class Plexi-Cushion tennis courts (three of which are floodlit), an elegant swimming pool, an indoor restaurant and a luxurious hairdressing and beauty complex to name but a few of the many amenities available to both members and guests. There is also the Manolo Santana Racket Club developed by Spain's first tennis hero: Manolo Santana, winner of Wimbledon in 1966 and a Davis Cup stalwart – the club is in Marbella and ideal for players of a more advanced level of competition.
